Volume contains copies of Governor's outgoing corespondence concerning troop deployment and payment; troop transportation or ordnance; care for the wounded, and hospital establishment. Correspondents include the Secretary of War; Illinois House of Representatives; Quartermaster General of Illinois; and governors of other states. Also included are copies of two letters from the Secretary of War, one to Governor Yates and the other to the commander of the U.S. Arsenal at St. Louis.

Fort Arbuckle was built in the Indian Territory of Oklahoma on April 19, 1851 and was formally designated a fort in June 1851.
